About
Roy Leighton is a polymath: actor, director, author, educator, artist, international speaker and adviser to schools, communities, and businesses on values based education and the management of change.
As a senior associate at Independent Thinking and the CEO of Undiscovered Country, he works with schools, universities, businesses, and communities in the U.K. and internationally to develop cultures of 'positive peace' to support engagement, transcend conflict and improve outcomes.
He is currently engaged in a ‘theatre as research’ programme for secondary schools and community groups in the U.K. and the U.S.A. in collaboration with The Cambridge Union and Alter Ego Creative Solutions using ‘Theatre of The Oppressed’ techniques to address the issues of direct, institutional and cultural violence. This ‘Theatre for Education’ production re-enacts and reflects on the 1965 Baldwin vs. Buckley debate at Cambridge University.
He is the co-author of eight books on education, creativity, spirituality and change management. Roy is a peace activist and In 1991 he was awarded the Min-on Peace Award for his contribution to peace, culture and education.
